ABSTRACT Objective: To study the clinical effect of celecoxib in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and its influence on the serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and rheumatoid factor (RF). Methods: 84 patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were treated in our hospital from September 2014 to August 2015 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional regimen, while the patients in the observation group were treated with celecoxib on the basis of the control group. Then the serum levels of CRP, RF, IL-1 and IL-6, clinical efficacy and side effects were ob- served and compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate in the obser- vation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the self-evaluation of observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the serum levels of CRP, RF, IL-1 and IL-6 between the two groups before the treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of CRP, IL-1 and IL-6 in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Celecoxib could effectively enhance the clinical effect and safety of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, which might be related to the reduction of the serum levels of CRP and RF. |
