ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the expressions and significance of homocysteine (Hcy), catalase (CAT) and vitamin B6 in pa- tients with schizophrenia. Methods: 67 patients with schizophrenia who were treated in our hospital from December 2015 to December 2016 Were selected as the research objects, and another 67 health people who had taken the examination in our outpatient clinic were chosen to be the healthy control group. Then the levels of Hcy, CAT and B6 in patients with schizophrenia and the control group were detected, and the correlation of Hcy, CAT and B6 expressions and the positive or negative symptom scale(PANSS) scores were analyzed. Results: The level of Hcy in the schizophrenia group was significantly higher than that of the control group, while the levels of CAT and B6 in the schizophrenia group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The positive rate of Hcy, CAT and B6 in schizophrenia group was 86.57 %, 79.10% and 71.64%, respectively. The level of Hcy was positively correlated with the PANSS score, while the levels of CAT and B6 was negatively correlated with the PANSS score (r=0.856, -0.764, -0.803, P<0.05). Conclusion: The level of Hcy in patients with schizophrenia was higher, while the levels of CAT and B6 were lower. Therefore, the determination of the levels of Hcy, CAT and B6 in schizophrenia patients could help to diagnosis the dis- ease and evaluate the prognosis. |
