Objective:To study the application value of serumprocalcitonin (PCT) combined with sputum culture in the detection of respiratory tract infection. Methods:A total of 100 patients with respiratory tract infection, who were treated in Panjin Center Hospital from January 2012 to December 2014, were chosen as research subjects. The flora distribution of sputum culture and the corresponding PCT levels were analyzed. The bacterial species distribution of bacterial infection and fungal infection of sputum culture and the corresponding PCT levels were compared. Results:The PCT levels of patients with detected pathogenic bacteria were significantly higher than those of patients with normal flora and no bacterial growth, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). PCT positive rate of patients with bacterial infection had no significant difference compared with the patients with fungal infection (P>0.05). In bacterial infection, there was no statistically significant difference between the ratio of PCT level of the positive gram bacteria (0.74± 0.33 滋g/L) to PCT level of the negative gram bacteria(0.72± 0.24 滋g/L) (P>0.05). The PCT positive rates of (60%) and (80%) were the highest in fungal infection. Conclusion:Applicatin of detection of serumPCT plus sputumculture to the evaluation of patients with respiratory tract infection has a certain feedback value, but it can not judge whether it is bacterial infection or fungal infection.
