Objective:To investigate the changes in the levels of alpha-synuclein, amyloid-beta(Abeta) and tau proteins in the plasma of patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods:The study was carried out on patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and normal controls (NC). Participants with PD (n=59), NC (n=62) were consecutively recruited during a 1-year period fromApril 2014 to April 2015 from Daping Hospital, and the clinical data were collected. The concentrations of aloha-synuclein, amyloid-beta and tau proteins in the plasma of PD and NC groups were measured and compared between two groups. Moreover, correlation analysis was also performed. Results:The concentrations of alpha-synuclein and tau phosphorylated at threonine 181 (pT181-tau) in the PD group were significantly higher than those in the NC group (P=0.001, 0.019, respectively). There were no significance differences in the concentrations of Abeta40, Abeta42, pT231-tau and total-tau between two groups (P>0.05). Correlation analysis indicated that alpha-synuclein and pT181-tau did not correlated with age, gender, education, disease duration, hypertension, diabetes, Hoehn and Yahr stage and Schwab& England score (P>0.05).Conclusion:Although the plasma levels of alpha-synuclein and pT181-tau were found to be increased in PD patients, they seem not be capable of being biomarkers for PD.
