Objective:To investigate the expression and prognosis of clinical significances of 14-3-3θprotein in human breast
cancer. Methods:Expression status of 14-3-3θwas detected by immunohistochemistry in 210 cases of human breast cancer specimens.
Expressions, correlations and prognosis of 14-3-3θwere analyzed. Results:In 210 cases of breast cancer specimens, the positive
expression of 14-3-3θwas 64.3%. The chi square test suggested that 14-3-3θexpression was not correlated with age, tumor size,
histology, or HER2 status (P>0.05), while which was correlated with TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, and ER status (P<0.05).
Correlation analysis suggested that 14-3-3θexpressions were positively correlated with advance TNM stage (r = -0.187, P = 0.006),
positive lymph node metastasis (r = -2.272, P < 0.0001), and negative ER status (r = -0.046, P = 0.003). Breast cancer patients with high
14-3-3θexpression had a shorter overall survival and a higher rate of recurrence than those with low 14-3-3θexpression (P = 0.0379 or
0.0037).Conclusion:In breast cancer, expressions of 14-3-3θincreased and were correlated with tumor progression. 14-3-3θmay serve
as a candidate prognostic biomarker in breast cancer progression. |
