The studies included prospective cohort studies investigating the influence of psychosocial factors on respiratory atopic disorders and the effect of respiratory atopic disorders on mental health. Results:There were 20 studies (in 13 articles), of which 13 evaluated the effect of psychosocial factors on respiratory atopic disorders and 7 evaluated the effect of respiratory atopic disorders on mental health. The overall meta-analysis exhibited a positive association between psychosocial factors and future respiratory atopic disorder [OR=1.77,95%CI (1.42,2.22)] as well as between respiratory atopic disorders and future poor mental health [OR=1.76,95%CI (1.48,2.08)].Conclusion:The current review revealed a robust relationship between psychosocial factors and respiratory atopic disorders. This supports the use of psychological in addition to conventional physical and pharmacological interventions, in the successful prevention and management of respiratory atopic disorders.
