Objective: To observe the effectiveness and safety of abdominal acupuncture for treating patients with primary hypertension accompanied by anxiety and depression. Methods: A total of 66 patients with primary hypertension with anxiety and depression who visited Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Dongzhimen Hospital from September 2022 to May 2023 were selected. They were randomly divided into a control group (33 cases, receiving simple psychological counseling on the basis of routine treatment) and an abdominal acupuncture group (33 cases, receiving abdominal acupuncture treatment on the basis of the control group). The efficacy, blood pressure (systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure), Generalized Anxiety Scale-7 (GAD-7) scale scores, 9 patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) scale score, traditional chinese medicine symptom grading quantitative score, pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) scale score and drug safety were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate of the abdominal acupuncture group was significantly higher than the control group (P <0.05). Following treatment, the systolic blood pressure in the abdominal acupuncture group was lower compared to the control group (P <0.05).Additionally, following treatment, both GAD-7 scale scores and PHQ-9 scale scores were lower in the abdominal acupuncture group compared to the control group (P <0.05).Furthermore, after treatment, the traditional Chinese medicine symptom grading quantitative score and the PSQI scale score in the abdominal acupuncture group were lower than the control group (P <0.05). No adverse reactions were observed in either groups during this study. Conclusions: Abdominal acupuncture for treating patients with primary hypertension with anxiety and depression can effectively regulate blood pressure, improve anxiety and depression, sleep quality, and has a good clinical effect. |
