Objective:To investigate the effects of carvedilol on the lipid metabolism of patients with mild to moderate hypertension.Methods:80 patients with mild to moderate hypertension admitted in our hospital from Jan. 2012 to Jan.2015 were randomly selected and divided into the observation group and the control group. Carvedilol was given to the observation group, and metoprolol was given to the control group. Then the clinical efficacy and changes of blood pressure, heart rate and blood lipid levels before and after treatment were observed and compared between two groups. Results:The total efficacy of observation group was 90%, which was obviously higher than that of the control group(72.5%, P<0.05). The systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and heart rate of both groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05). The systolic pressure and diastolic pressure of both groups after treatment had no difference(P>0.05), but the heart rate of observation group was obviously higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). The levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) of observation were significantly lower than those before treatment, and lower than those of the control group, while the high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) was significantly higher than that before treatment and the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with Metoprolol, Carvedilol could more effectively treat patients with mild to moderate hypertension and improve the blood lipid levels of patients, but had less impact on the heart rate.
